The Rescue Swimmer Program
The World Academy of Safety & Health (WASH) International – Maritime Safety Division’s Rescue Swimmer program prepares individuals to handle a wide range of water rescue scenarios, making them valuable assets in ensuring water safety worldwide.
Training and Certification
Extensive training in approaching and assisting distressed individuals, using rescue equipment, and ensuring the safety of both rescuer and victim — with the skills and knowledge for performing water rescues.
Water Rescue Equipment

What You’ll Learn
Rescue techniques, victim recognition, water-entry and approach skills, and essential safety practices for performing rescues safely and efficiently.
Delivery
Full in-person course including classroom, pool, open water, and swift water sessions, plus the certification PDF on successful completion.
Certification
WASH International Rescue Swimmer certificate, valid for two (2) years from date of completion.
Requirements
Minimum 18 years of age. Required equipment: helmet, wetsuit and/or drysuit, gloves. Progression: Surf Rescue or Swift Water Rescue Instructor course.
