Scholarship In-Take Form

In an effort to promote water safety and prevent drowning worldwide, the World Academy of Safety & Health (WASH) — with the help of corporate sponsors, partners, and private donors — offers need-based scholarships that cover the full tuition of a WASH training course for individuals who could not otherwise afford it.

Who the Scholarship Serves

The fund exists to make sure nothing stands between a motivated person and life-saving training.

Underprivileged Individuals

Anyone with the drive to become a certified lifeguard, swim instructor, or rescuer — but without the financial means to pay for tuition. If cost is the barrier, this program is for you.

Under-Served Communities

Applicants from communities with limited access to aquatic training, where certified lifeguards and swim instructors are needed most.

Facilities & Organizations

Aquatic facilities, individual pools, and other organizations may also apply for a scholarship for one or more of their staff members.

Committee review

Our scholarship committee reviews in-take forms and applications on a weekly basis.

Award decision

If selected, you will be contacted with your award details and course placement.

Train free of charge

Scholarship recipients participate in one of our training classes free of charge.

Before You Apply

A few things that strengthen an application.

Eligibility basics

Lifeguard courses generally require applicants to be at least 15 years old.
You must be able to commit to the full course schedule.
Basic swimming ability is required for in-water courses.

What we look for

Genuine financial need.
A clear plan for using the certification — employment, community service, or both.
Motivation to serve as a water-safety role model.
